Hello again, lovely supportive humans! Thank you to everyone who has filled out their BackerKit survey already. If you have not, please check your email for the link. We will lock down the surveys on JUNE 20th for processing and you will not be able to make changes after that date.

I lost my BackerKit email with the link. What should I do?

You can use this survey recovery link takethisorg.backerkit.com and have another link emailed to you.

Can I upgrade my pledge level?

Yes! You will be able to increase your pledge level though the survey.

What if I want to purchase an extra item?

You will be able to purchase extra items though the survey as well.

Can I edit my survey response?

You can go back to your survey and change it any time before we lock down the surveys on JUNE 20th for processing. If you need to review your information or pledge status, you will be able to recover your survey here: takethisorg.backerkit.com.

Thank you all again for your generosity! We will be sending out links for the BackerKit surveys soon. The survey will ask about your rewards preferences, shipping information, and pledging for more “add-ons”, if you'd like. Please respond as soon as you can so we can start working on fulfilling your rewards!

WAHHH! You lovely humans! What did you do?

You funded our AFK Room Program 2017 Kickstarter to $38,721! That’s AMAZING!

Combined with the $28,265 we raised in the first half of our interrupted Indiegogo campaign, that makes for a grand total of $66,536 raised to put life-saving Take This AFK Rooms in conventions around the world.

Thanks to all of your generosity, the Take This AFK Rooms for the following conventions are/have been fully funded:

• PAX South 2017, San Antonio 
• PAX East 2017, Boston 
• MomoCon 2017, Atlanta 
• E3 2017, Los Angeles 
• PAX West 2017, Seattle 
• PAX South 2017, San Antonio

… and possibly one or two others we are not yet able to confirm. (We are stretching those dollars!)

Thank you so much to everyone who contributed, spread the word, and encouraged us over the two long months we’ve been raising funds. Our campaign(s) haven’t been without trying times, but knowing so many of you believe in what we do has definitely made us feel we’re not alone.

What’s next?

Over the next few days we will be tallying the results and working with our manufacturing partners to prepare our fabulous reward items.

Then we will work with our partners at Backerkit to get those reward items shipped to where you are! Keep your eye out for further updates about progress.

Our Wyrmwood Gaming Tranquility Shields and Psychomancer Plushies will likely ship around the same time. Our timing for shipping both the original Psychomancer Pinny Arcade Pin and the new Pinny Arcade pin by Gabe are TBD, but should be before Summer’s end. We will do our best to ship everything as soon as it comes in.

How do we continue the fight?

The campaign may be over, but we’re still raising funds. We have a lot more to do, and many more conventions to serve.

We’re in our final day for the fundraiser! And there’s so much news!

PAX South Unlocked

Lookit! We’ve unlocked PAX SOUTH 2018! The Take This AFK Room will now for realsies be alive for the entire year! Thank you everyone who got us this far.

To celebrate, we've decided to share our full stretch goal image because our editor Nissa did such a good job with it! You can see the full scope of our ambition for the AFK Room program, and how far we still have left to go to expand to just six new shows this year. We will keep raising funds even after this campaign, but there's no comparison to the excitement and platform of a Kickstarter. If you have anything to spare, we could sure use your help now!

Dear friendos,

It's time for a personal confession: I've been losing sleep over this campaign.

For me, this Kickstarter is about more than how many dollars we can raise to put life-saving AFK Rooms in convention spaces, and how many we can add in the future. For me, this is about whether or not Take This has a future — at all. And how bright it can be.

My wife Susan, my friend Mark, and I started Take This because we were tired of losing friends to depression. We wanted to make the world better for people dealing with mental health issues. And we have, in our small way. But we keep losing people just the same. Last week we lost a wonderful ally in the fight against stigma. These diseases are relentless, and they make people feel like they’re alone and that no one understands. It’s a feeling that’s as wrong as it is pervasive. We have to do more.

For five years, Take This has survived on a little luck and a lot of momentum. But the time when we can count on both is at an end. This campaign (in both of its iterations) represents the first time we've asked you, our friends and supporters, for direct financial aid. The response has been enormous. You've helped us ensure we will have AFK Rooms at four of our events this calendar year, and we can't thank you enough. But those events are just a fraction of where we're needed.

There are dozens of major events every year. And many of the people who run those events have begged us for help. Not just in providing calming spaces where attendees can take a break and get help, but in making those entire events more mentally healthy and welcoming. Right now we have to say no more than we say yes, and it's not because we don't want to help. It's because we can't afford to.

My dear friends, Take This is our way, as a community, to stand together to fight the feeling that we're all on our own in this fight. And it is a fight. Every friend we lose to mental illness is another note of despair for the rest of us who struggle. And I include myself in that. We have to fight back that darkness with hope.

Stand with us now. Help fund our fight, and in doing so, tell the world that hope is real, hope matters, and hope helps. Help us help others. Help us keep the hope Take This represents alive. Give what you can. Share the word. Tell the people and companies you know how much this means to people who struggle, and how much it would mean to you to see them stand with us.

We can't fight the stigma of mental illness alone. We need your help, right now, to keep the fight going. It’s dangerous to go alone.
